Not a passive chemical cabinet. This is an actively filtered cupboard: fans draw the vapours off your stored containers, pass them through activated carbon, and recirculate clean air back into the room.
Safe storage for containers that keep giving off fumes. Xylene and formalin specimen storage, solvent and reagent storage, histology and pathology labs, and any store where opened containers exude vapour.
An ordinary chemical storage cabinet is a sealed box. Vapours from opened or preserved containers build up inside, and every time the door opens they escape into the room. It offers no filtration and no warning.
The Fumecare cupboard is an engineering control. Fans continuously draw vapours off the stored containers and through an activated carbon filter, so clean air is recirculated and the cupboard interior is kept under control. A low airflow alarm tells you the moment protection drops, and there is no ducting to install.
Every unit ships ready to protect, whichever size you choose.
Anywhere opened or preserved containers sit and slowly release vapour, this cupboard keeps that vapour out of the room.
Histopathology labels and stores specimens preserved in xylene and formalin, and those containers keep exuding vapour. The cupboard captures it during storage rather than letting it drift across the lab.
Formaldehyde is a category 1B carcinogen and formalin-fixed tissue gives off vapour in storage. Active filtration keeps that exposure away from staff between processing steps.
Opened solvent and reagent bottles release odorous, hazardous vapours. Store them here to filter off the fumes and protect the long-term health of lab personnel.
Grossing, processing and staining all generate fumes, and stored solutions keep releasing them. A filtered cupboard is a practical engineering control for the store room.
Even where a substance is not highly hazardous, persistent odour is unpleasant and distracting. The carbon filter removes the smell as well as the vapour.
Where controlling exposure at source is reasonably practicable, an actively filtered cupboard helps demonstrate control of hazardous substances during storage.
Standard 860mm width, with a choice of heights to suit the space and the volume you store. Benchtop or freestanding, with custom builds to order.
| Model | Width | Height range | Typical use |
|---|---|---|---|
| Benchtop | 860mm | From 600mm | Sits on a bench, smaller container volumes |
| Freestanding | 860mm | Up to 1800mm | Full-height store, larger volumes and specimens |
| Custom | Bespoke | To suit | Built to your space and storage needs |
Standard width 860mm, heights from 600mm to 1800mm. Ductless recirculating construction with viewing doors, low airflow alarm and single phase supply. Full dimensions and datasheet available on request.
The cupboard takes a single main filter chosen for the substances inside, in carbon, HEPA, or a carbon and HEPA combination. Different carbons target different vapours, so tell us what you store and we will specify the right media.
Fans continuously draw vapours off the stored containers and through the filter, so clean air is recirculated. This is what sets it apart from a passive cabinet.
Fitted as standard. It alerts the operator the moment airflow drops below safe levels, so filtration is never left to chance.
Recirculating airflow means no expensive ducting. The unit plugs in and, on castors, can be moved as your storage needs change.
Clear doors let you see and locate stored containers at a glance without opening up and releasing vapour unnecessarily.
Polypropylene and stainless steel throughout, so the cupboard wipes down easily and stands up to the substances it stores.
An actively filtered cupboard is a recognised engineering control, helping labs demonstrate control of hazardous vapours during storage.
Send us the substances you store and the format and size you need, and we'll come back with a filter specification and price, typically within four working hours.
